What a Let Down

Husband and I went to see Harry Potter last Thursday after me literally WAITING for it to come out for the past year and a half (I saw the last one in Japan with the HM right after I made him take me to his American Christmas party).

I'm sorry, but I didn't really like the movie. Old Harry was ANGRY all the time - of course, he was in the book, too, which is why I didn't like the book as much as the others. I also thought that the movie was kind of jumpy...meaning that they jumped from scene to scene without anything to tie them together. Had I not read the book, I think that I wouldn't have had any idea what was going on. Or, maybe I would have as I consider myself incredibly intuitive, not to mention pretty and smart.

The part that I missed the most about the movie was they didn't use ANY of the Harry Potter music. I was ready and waiting until the end when the giant HARRY POTTER flashed on the screen and the music started so I could at least feel that like I had seen some semblance of Harry Potter. What did I get instead? Some classical crap that made me want to sleep.

Hello people! We totally just saw this terrific fight with Voldemort (which is the part that husband LOVED. In fact, he said he would take me again tonight just so he could see that part again) and THIS is how you choose to end the show? Is there something wrong in the dream world of magic that doesn't allow for traditional Harry Potter music?

I agree with you that there was little to tie the scenes together and if you haven't read the book you might have been a little lost. But I disagree with you in terms of disappointment. I they hit all the major plot points and portrayed Umbridge in exactly the light as she is in the book...a fascist dictator and usurper. I think they should have revealed who set the Demeantors on Harry, but they didn't and I won't ruin for other people here.

Aw, come on! I thought it was AWESOME! As is everything with Harry Potter in the title. I have to say, though, the books ARE better. This was my favorite of the movies, though. I like dark and moody. Probably because that's what I am. Well, minus the dark part anyway.

Maybe I'll have to see it again. Husband did buy me some nachos right before the show and I was enjoying them quite a bit - so much so that maybe I missed the GREAT movie that both of you saw.
