When I was in Japan, I used to dream of American food. I used to think of all the things that I would eat when I got back to where high-fat, high-sugar food was the norm.
Perhaps I've been home too long now but all of those decadent dreams have been smashed. That's right, smashed. Today for lunch I went to the store and bought some chicken wings and a piece of cheesecake, visions of deliciousness dancing in my head.
When I got back to the classroom, I dove in, looking for some finger-lickin' goodness. What I got was disgust and anger. America, you've let me down. The chicken wings were crusty and cooked to within an inch of their lives. The cheesecake was bland and crusty. Who on earth is to blame for such blasphemous cooking? Wrecking two All-American favorites in one day is nothing short of sac-religious.
It seems that the only way on earth to get good food now is to either cook it myself or follow Nick around (he knows all the good places) until the end of time.
Really. Disappointed.

American food may be high in sugar and fat and the convini food might be lacking for any sort of tastebud stimulation, but I would love a chance to cut my rice consumption by 1/2! How's the Low-Carb craze going in the States? Still going on?
I would love to tell you but as you can see, I have never been on a diet in my life.
