Way Too Pretty

I am way too pretty for Wells High School. Today I woke up at 6 am to make sure that I got a shower and did my hair before I went to school. Then, I took out my nice black skirt and green sweater and ironed them carefully. I put on NYLONS. Yes, NYLONS that squished my legs until they looked like sausage in casing. I even dug out my old slip, shined my shoes, and put my lipstick on.

When I got to school and was strutting myself down the hall (did I mention that I have a COLD and barely slept last night?), I noticed several teachers standing there talking about their upcoming day. I took a double take since I thought that one of those chatting MUST be a student. Why? Because they were wearing jean overalls. No teacher would EVER wear jean overalls to school especially since they're supposed to be looking professional and put-together, RIGHT?? Wrong again, Ms. Neff. The person wearing the overalls was indeed, a teacher.

Now all of you that know me well know that #1 I hate to dress up when I don't have to and #2 I happen to own SEVERAL pairs of overalls (both in long and short variety), which are my favorite clothes in the entire world. So why, I ask you, do I have to be wearing nylons and a slip when this teacher looks like she didn't even brush her hair this morning?

Answer: I don't. And tomorrow, when I subbing for ag class, you can bet everything you've got that I will be wearing my overalls...and if not my overalls, perhaps my track shorts or something equally as comfortable...because if other teachers can do it, so can I. You know, there's a point in everyone's life when they break and it seems that today was mine.
