Lock and Load

Being a mother is hard.

Haaarrrrrrd.

And at the same time, it's the best, most entertaining thing I've ever done.

Here's why:

1.  We had to buy a lock for the refrigerator.  Carolyn was in there constantly.  She would leave the door open, put stuff on the floor and leave it there, and break the eggs.  I thought that was the extent of it until I opened the closet under the stairs this morning looking for something and found that Carolyn has also been stashing cups of yogurt under there.  Is there no way she would consider stashing food that doesn't sour?

2.  Carolyn pulled the shower curtain aside this morning and showed me how pretty she is when she rubs daddy's deodorant all over her face.  She kept saying, "Mama!  Looks good!"

3.  When I got out of the shower, I found her sitting on the floor literally sucking toothpaste out of the tube.  "Mama!  Toothpaste SOOOOOOO GOOD!"

4.  Much to Carolyn's great consternation, a couple of her little friends are vacationing in Florida this week.  Here's the conversation we had about it this morning:

Carolyn:  Gym?  Aubrey?  Natalie?  Becky?
Me:  No, we won't see them today.  They're in Florida.
Carolyn:  Florida?
Daddy:  Carolyn, where's Florida?
Carolyn:  Where'd Florida go?
Me:  Do you want to Google it?
Carolyn:  Yeah.
Me:  See, here's Florida.  Becky is right here.
Carolyn:  HEY THERE, FLORIDA (while waving at the computer screen)!  Hi, Becky!

And then, as we were walking out the door to the gym, I closed the computer and Carolyn says, "Bye, bye, Florida!"

I'm getting Carolyn binoculars for her bday so she can step it up with the stalking.
