Daylight Savings

I used to love Daylight Savings time.

Springing forward or falling back, it didn't matter.

Because each had it's advantages.

In fact, after the first day of falling back, I used to like springing forward more.

Because of that extra hour of daylight wherein I could do super fun activities.

Now, I loathe both.

As in loooooooathe.

Either way, with a little kid, there is absolutely no joy in springing or falling.

For instance:

It is currently 7:50am.

I woke up at 7.

It was still dark outside so I stayed in bed until 7:30 when it was still-dark-but-not-middle-of-the-night-dark.

Carolyn is asleep and probably will stay asleep until 8:15 (with her being sick, it could be closer to 9).

And while I'm all for her sleeping that late, by the time she gets up and I get all of our stuff together for the track, it will be close to 8:45.

Exercising, showering, eating breakfast, getting ready...

That puts our day starting at roughly 10:30.

That means that I can't be anywhere until at least 10:45 (because everything in Beaumont is 15 minutes away - it's a geographical oddity).

Half the day gone, just like that.

Don't even get me started on what time she wants to go to bed.

Yesterday felt like pretty much the longest day on record because she didn't want to take a nap at her usual time and didn't want to go to bed until close to 9.

This cannot be.

I'm writing to my Congressman.

I agree--any time change should be abolished. It just messes up too many things when kids are involved. And for only 4 months of the year? Come on now!

I hate it too, but mostly because it's a pain to translate who's on what time. I am a big fan, though, of more light.
