NCAA Football 2011

NCAA Football 2011 for the xBox came out this past week - Husband's been talking about the release date almost as much as he's been talking about the impending birth of our first child.

He always wants me to play his xBox games with him.

I always say no.

Because I don't like losing.

And also, let's be completely honest, even though I considered myself a football aficionado before I met Husband, I apparently really have no idea what's going on.  Oh, don't get me wrong, I know the rules, love the game, and could probably play the game for real...if I were taller, could wear a helmet without feeling claustrophobic, and wasn't scared of getting hit...or hitting other people...and I guess running without tripping over my own feet would help, too, but whatever.

However, Husband tricked me into playing with him yesterday due to the fact that I had something I really wanted him to do and was willing to trade pretty much anything for it.  That's how we roll.  We make trades and deals with one another...just like I used to with my little sister and then never made good on my end of the trade.  Hey.  Don't judge.  That's what younger siblings are for and you know it.

The game turned out really well for me because:

1.  Husband indulged me like a little kid, even letting me know when there was a fumble I hadn't seen and directing me how to "party with the mascot" after the ensuing touchdown.

2.  I'm allowed to trash talk.  He is not.

3.  We played at Cougar stadium and Husband even went the extra mile by learning how to download the BYU roster and put the names on the backs of the player's jerseys.

4.  The xBox console cheated in my favor at least twice I can remember.  Have I mentioned how much I love this game?

5.  Husband encouraged me in my play calling efforts by blitzing on purpose so I had plenty of time to throw the ball.  I throw the ball every play.  Mostly because if I call a run play, by the time I get to the line of scrimmage, I can't really remember which direction the play is supposed to go or where my blockers are supposed to be, so I just stand there like an idiot.

6.  We got to hear the BYU fight song after every score.

7.  I felt pretty powerful wielding the controller and pushing every button on it on every play.  Even though I don't know what any of the buttons do.

8.  I won.  Twice.

9.  I'm pretty sure Husband let me win.  Either that or I'm just that good.  I like to believe the latter.

10.  Husband hasn't asked me to play with him since.  I think I've intimidated him with my football prowess.

You're just that talented. And I never treated any of my younger siblings like that, but don't ask for their opinion, because they will most likely lie to you.

You go girl! You're my xBox hero. I can't figure those games out either... I like the strategy of seeing how many times I can hit ALL the buttons in one down! Surprisingly, it actually works--sometimes. :)

Much to my husbands shagrin, I have not allowed video games in our house at all, but after reading about loading BYU's roster and listening to the fight song, I may reconsider. I would be considered the BEST WIFE EVER!

Way to go, by the way. Sounds like you intimidated the socks of him!
