1. I just won my very first radio contest! Do you have any idea how long I've been trying?? The contest was for free lunch for four at the local Japanese steakhouse (which is kind of an oxymoron because I never, ever saw a steakhouse in Japan). I'm pretty sure the reason my email was chosen out of hundreds of others (ok, so maybe more like ten others) was that I told them I'm pregnant. And hungry. And speak fluent Japanese. You've gotta let people know all of your talents right up front. The only drawback is that we have to go tomorrow at 11:30 and we have to eat with the radio DJs. Now to decide on who's been nice enough to me to warrant an invitation.
2. Does anyone else ever think, "I really am doing the very best I can with what I've got" and actually mean it? For the first time in my life, I feel that way. Of course, then I look back and think, "Man, my best really, really sucks."
