A Mother-Kind-of-Girl

For sharing time in Primary, the music leader has a jar full of plastic bugs with song numbers written on their bellies.  Five or six kids get to pick a bug every week.  All the rest of the kids whine because they didn't get a chance.

Today one of the 4-year-olds yanked on the back of my shirt and said, "Sister Peters, I didn't get to pick a bug."

I looked at him and said, "I didn't get to pick a bug either."

"Yeah, but you're a mom.  Moms don't get to pick bugs."

"Only kids get to pick bugs?"

"Yeah, only girls and boys."

"But I'm a girl."

"Yeah, but you're a mother-kind-of-girl."

"I don't have any kids."

His eyes narrowed and he scrutinized me for awhile.  Then his hand shot into the air.

"Sister Garcia, Sister Peters didn't get to pick a bug."

The little girl next to him looked at him disgustedly and said, "Ryan, she has a baby in her belly right now.  She's going to have kids soon."

I love it!! Kids are so funny and innocent. It is nice to know that they are thinking of you :)
