You See, I Have This Amazing and Totally Relevant Skill Set

I've worked at my new job for going on six weeks now. I still don't know what I'm supposed to be doing.

However, there is one advantage to that: I get a chance daily to practice my stellar acting skills.

Since my desk is in the office common area, people are constantly stopping at my desk to tell me their work (and a lot of the time non-work) related problems.

I smile or frown as necessary. And I shake my head up and down or back and forth.

Sometimes, by reading their body language and tone, I can even tell when I'm supposed to be indignant.

I widen my eyes and even though I have no idea what they're talking about say, "You have GOT to be kidding me! Isn't that what he said last time? Ohmygosh. Like, hasn't he figured that out yet?"

I'll never be good at faking it. And I hate trying. But I'm glad people do it for me, otherwise, I wouldn't be their friend.
