I'm really starting to like my job. Here's why:
1. The Vonda-meister took me for a spin in the Club Car on campus right in the middle of class break. Because there were students everywhere, we ended up 4-wheeling on the grass. She let me wear The Project Manager's hard hat. And I waved to people like the Queen of Sheba (sorry, no pictures. Of all the days to forget my camera...).
2. They let me take all the piles of paper that were sitting around, sort them, and make my own filing system for them. Although it might not be the smartest thing they've ever done (who on earth lets the new girl who has no idea what's going on sort all the papers?), I had a ball. Not so much the sorting. Or the filing. But I love to write on file folders. And I love that each project has it's own number assigned to it. Because even though I am mildly dyslexic with numbers, referring to something by a number rather than a name is more fun. It kind of makes me feel like I'm in on a secret.
3. I finally got a sign in for the computer. Now I get to work on my own files and save them the way I want to. Things make so much more sense when they're done my way. I wish people understood that.
4. I also was assigned a password for my VOICEMAIL. That's right, all my wildest dreams have come true. All I've wanted for years and years is a job with voicemail - where I don't have to answer every call that comes along. I can just keep talking to whomever I'm talking to instead of having to put my finger up and wave it at them to signal that any phone call is more important than them.
5. Today they finally gave me a project that is just mine. I think it will take me approximately one hour to complete it, but the point is that I get to do it. Just me. And I don't have to ask anyone else to check my work.
