1. At church yesterday I found reason #691 why I'm going to be a horrible mother. One of the Sunbeams wanted to sit on my lap and another wanted to lean on me. Both of them were so hot and combined with my amazing radiating skin, we'd sweated together in no time. The kids didn't seem to mind but I thought I was going to pass out.
2. After sharing time, we walked the kids around the church like we do every week. One little girl suggested that we do what we did last week by grabbing a stick and "being mean to the ants" along the sidewalk.
3. The theme of the lesson was "Love One Another" and it included the story of The Good Samaritan. I got most of the story right. I mean, other than the fact that I preached false doctrine by telling the kids that it was Jesus who came along and picked the man up off the road, it was totally right.
4. I had the brilliant idea of letting the kids finger paint pictures for their mothers (thanks to Husband for giving up his priesthood time to lend an extra pair of hands). In order to keep the paint off their clothes, I brought some plastic garbage bags and as we were slipping them over the kid's head and arms, the bold print on the bag jumped out at me, "This bag is not a toy and not to be used with children."
5. During Sharing Time, we'd helped the kids make some flowers for their mothers out of cookies and gumdrops. We carefully kept them until the end of church when we passed them out. By the time I'd turned around, Kid-That-Looks-Like-Chris-Farley had polished off two and a half of four cookies. All his mother got was two gumdrops on a stick.

fyi - how to destroy an ant hill:
pour 3 gallons boiling water on it OR mix 50% borax, 50% powdered sugar, and leave it near the ant hill. the little worker ants carry it to the queen ant, and soon all are dead!! not that we've been doing anything of the sort.
I've never seen a real ant hill down here - just little ones with tons of crappy red ants in it - which means you can never lay in the grass or else they'll be all over you. However, I think that a little borax and powdered sugar activity would go over really well in Sunbeams. Either that or I should bring some lighter fluid and burn the ants out. I mean, afterall, I did cover the kids with plastic trash bags last week. Gotta one-up myself this week.
