Do You Hear What I Hear

I was listening to the radio last night and "Do You Hear What I Hear" came on. I've always loved that song.

However, there is one verse that says, "A child, a child, shivers in the cold, let us bring him silver and gold. Let us bring him silver and gold."

Ok...........

#1 The average temperature in Israel in April when the birth of Jesus Christ actually took place is about 65 degrees. I wouldn't call that cold. Especially with all those sheep gathered around.

#2 If the child is shivering in the cold, wouldn't it make more sense to bring him a blanket?

I'm just sayin'...

well - 65 isn't really that warm when you're naked and wet. not that i've had any experience with that sort of thing. also - maybe they were supposed to trade the gold for a blanket. MAYBE the shepards should have thought to weave on. mary seems like she had her wits about her - she MUST have had something.....
some people take artistic license way too far.

Well, he was in swaddling clothes afterall. Maybe you don't need a blanket if you're all swaddled up. And the shepards already knew he was swaddled because the angel told them that he would be. Except it was the wise men who brought him silver and gold...
