Cramping My Style

This hurricane recovery business is really cramping my style. It took 40 minutes today to find a place to eat lunch that wasn't either one, closed, or two, full of so many people we would've had to wait in line for 45 minutes just to place an order (in this case, there is no such thing as fast food).

I even suggested to the girl I was with that we should go to the Red Cross station where they are handing out free, hot meals. The line there would have been shorter than the one at Wendy's. I don't think she thought it was a very good idea.

I understand that there were lots of places with wind and water damage, so the fact that those businesses are required to be shut down doesn't bother me one bit. What does bother me is that I have to be at work when no one else does. I would say that if I were off, I could be at the beach, but unfortunately, the nearest beach kind of got blown away...

On top of all that, half of the traffic lights around the city are still on the blink, so we are practicing our best 4-way-stopping skills, which, by the looks of things, was completely left out of all Texas high school driver's education classes.
