That's What I Like About Texas

I finally found something about Texas that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE: home grown tomatoes in June! In Ruby Valley, you have to wait all the way until the end of August. Today one of our patients brought in six bags of fully ripe gigantor tomatoes. The lab ladies lent me some salt and I WENT TO TOWN.

My favorite part of the tomato is the first bite - where you have to bite and suck out the seeds so they don't run down the front of your shirt. It's kind of vampire-esque. The only thing that would make it better is if I had picked the tomato by myself and it was still warm from the sun...in the Nevada garden. Texas tomatoes in a Nevada garden. Sounds like heaven to me.

Wow, I am so jealous. It is not very often I find someone who LOVES home-grown tomatoes as much as I do. Just reading this makes me want to hop on the next flight down to Beaumont.

Come on down! I'll take you to the beach and we can eat tomatoes while lounging in the sun!

I also love Texas tomatoes because they have NO SALMONELLA...

Apparently they do! The other day we had Mexican food with pico de gallo - MINUS tomatoes. So, basically, we got a pile of onions and green peppers.
