Working at the doctor's office, I wear a lot of different hats. Now I know what you are thinking. How many different hats can one bookkeeper have? The money hat, the ticket hat, the coding hat...what you might not have factored into that equation is that I work for THIS PARTICULAR doctor.
That means that I have other "duties". They include coordinating bail/ lawyers/ bail bondsmen/ money orders for his nephew who is in jail, typing letters that he insists on sending to people along with article written by members of our church, and naturally, helping to coordinate the addiction recovery class that he and his wife conduct each Tuesday night at the church.
The thing about it is, isn't addiction recovery supposed to be confidential?
How can it be confidential when someone like me, who has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the meetings, is the one coordinating communication with all of the people that go to them? I mean, these are people that I go to church with! These are people that don't want anyone to know they have an addiction (which is kind of a double whammy when you are Mormon).
And, while I try my hardest not to tell anyone, I can't promise that in a moment of weakness, it's not going to slip out (I admit to being somewhat of a gossip monger). I can tell you that if I went to those meetings and I knew that someone like me had access to all the records, I would quit going.
The real question is, what on earth do these addiction recovery meetings have to with working in a doctor's office??

You have to give me the dish! Although, it is sad that you even have a "dish." You're right, you are not getting paid NEARLY enough to do all that Dr. Stovall has you doing.
NO! NO DISH! I WILL BE STRONG! However, I can be bought...
Cheddars?
Just say the word and I'm there...
