Weighing In

I saw that Sadaam Hussein was executed today. While I completely agree with capital punishment and believe that he should have been executed, I can't help but be a little sad. No, I'm not sad for Sadaam. I'm sad for all the people that his execution will effect. I mean, some people were happy and dancing in the streets but other people were very angry. And judging by the past, all of the angry people will have bombs. Why is it that the happy people never have explosives? And, if there are bombs, that means more people will die, including American servicemen. I have a friend in Iraq right now and although he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, he doesn't deserve to die.

If people are dying and the violence has continued even after Sadaam's arrest and execution, what's the point? I'm no expert in politics, war, and hate crimes, but would it have been different if they had just left Sadaam in prison to rot? Is that a stupid/uneducated statement?
