*They changed the wound vac.
*I saw the open wound for the first time.
*It's FA-REEEAAAKKIN' huge.
*Like bigger than I ever thought a wound could be.
*It kind of looks like the Grand Canyon.
*The wound center RN took some pictures.
*Husband saw the pictures, and therefore, the wound for the first time.
*His reaction was, "Good gosh!"
*Husband saw the surgeon.
*He asked her when he could go home.
*She said, "When the wound gets smaller."
*That's basically the same thing as asking your mom if you can do something and she says, "Maybe."
*And of course, she means, "Hell, no, there's no way you're doing that."
*Husband has officially been in the hospital too long.
*He is on a first name basis with the entire staff.
*He has also made the round of the hospital food menu.
*Today is the chicken parmesan again.
*Hospital chicken parmesan = GRODY.
*I got to give Husband his insulin shot.
*Apparently I didn't jab him fast enough, because I hurt him.
*Next time, there will be no hesitation.
*I've never given a person a shot before, I've only given shots to cows.
*We've decided that next year, we're skipping the last week of July and the first few weeks of August.
*Because it's hexed.
*2009: My father passes away unexpectedly.
*2010: I suffer from severe postpartum depression.
*2011: Husband gets a flesh-eating disease on his leg, spends X days in the hospital.
*Oh, and in July 2008, I'm pretty sure I was contemplating a career as an American Gladiator.

You amaze me. I would be a freakin' wreck!!
If you are giving it to him in his stomach, try pinching some of his skin and then stick it in - for some reason when I was having to give myself shots for the gestational diabetes it always hurt less if I pinched my fat roll and stuck the needle in that.
Poke him quick. Practice with saline on oranges or something. If you jab too fast, you can cause a bruise. Your daughter smiled at me yesterday and made my day. She wouldn't stop smiling at me either. It was like she was saying, "Isn't this whole thing ridiculous? No one lets me crawl around and these seats are too big for me." Loved it!
Just wanted you both to know that you are in our prayers. Your outlook on this is amazing. Hang in there...and remember this too shall pass.
For the two weeks I was in the hospital, I was on a liquid diet. The day I was going home they put me on regular food. What did I get for lunch? The chicken parmesan..didn't eat it. I consider it gross, you say grody..I think they mean the same thing. Hang in there Nick and Erin.
