The Beach

Monday, we went on our very first family outing since Carolyn was born.

I chose the beach.  If you ask a desert girl where she wants to go, it will always be the beach.

Mostly because I still can't get over all that water all in one place.

Even if it is brown and you can't see the bottom.

Carolyn had to kick back with her daddy for some of the day.  Or rather, she was forced to sit on his lap due to her tendency to pick up every, single sea shell she saw to put in her mouth.  Daddy did not appreciate that.

While everyone else endured the biting flies and the wind blowing away the beach canopy (you suck, cheap-o Walmart), Carolyn and I enjoyed the water.  Or rather, I enjoyed the water while Carolyn chewed on this oyster shell - I figured it was big enough that she wouldn't choke on it.  Oh, and did I mention that Carolyn has graduated from 2-3 steps at a time to 4-5 steps at a time?  But only when she thinks no one is paying attention.

All in all, I had a wonderful time.  I'm pretty sure I was the only one - everyone else looked miserable.  Maybe it's because they had to help push our car out of the sand after Husband decided to park on the beach.
