Week Three

My basil isn't looking it's best.  Today I looked under every single leaf looking for little green worms...or anything else that might be eating the leaves.  I found nothing.  In the meantime, Carolyn ingested her weight in dirt and dead grass.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with my zucchini plants - it's only 75 degrees outside and they wilt by noon.  I don't have enough shade for them and the basil plants.

could you stand an umbrella in a flower vase between the two?

Put the basil in full sun and water it like crazy (although you are in houston, so maybe that will take care of the water problem- in Austin I have to water mine a LOT). I partial shaded my basil for two years here and it was always crappy and leggy (yellow leaves, wilting and pests). I put four plants in full sun last summer, cut the seeds and I had 3 foot tall plants by the end of the season. But on the hot days I sometimes had to water in the morning and at night.
