I'm Wrecked

1.  Remember how Cadbury Mini-Eggs are my very favorite candy in the entire world?  And remember how I look forward to the day after Valentine's Day when they're put on the shelf?  And remember how last year, I was pregnant and yarking all over the place and unable to eat them?  And how sad I was?  And how much I was looking forward to this year so I could eat, eat, eat them?  Yeah, well, that's all wrecked.  I've bought exactly one bag of them in the last month.  I used to eat handfuls of them at a time.  With this bag, I ate 2-3 and thought, "Huh.  These aren't even very good."  Ugh.  Pregnancy ruins people.  Other things it's ruined for me:  cereal of any kind, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, Elena's Mexican food, and beef eater sandwiches from Jason's Deli.

2.  Does anyone else watch Top Chef?  It's one of my very favorite shows on TV.  But, the hostess of the show, Padma Lakshmi, drives me up the wall.  It's a show about up and coming chefs, right?  And therefore, a show about food, right?  And just like every other cooking competition shows, each show, the chefs are given a task they must complete.  This season, the finale is being held in the Bahamas.  In order to get the task, the chefs come out onto a dock, where they're to get on a boat, to go to a private island to cook.  And BAM!  There's Padma.  Looking resplendent in a bikini and gold maklimae high heels.  She gives the chefs the task instructions and then saunters away.  Um, really, Padma?  REALLY??  You couldn't have worn clothes to do that?  It's a cooking show for heaven sake.  It made me want to kick her in the down there.

3.  Does anyone know anywhere in Beaumont that teaches adult dance lessons?  I took a clogging class for like three months when I was twelve and I really, really liked it.  Don't get me wrong, I was never very good at it and I've never been complimented on my grace, coordination, or artistic beauty, but I'd sure like to give it a try again.  I found a place that teaches adult hip hop lessons and thought really hard about signing up.  Then, I pictured myself  in the back of the class flailing around like a fish out of water and got a really good laugh out of it.

4.  I watched the BYU game last night and then watched the following game of Gonzaga and St. John.  BYU plays the winner (Gonzaga) on Saturday.  The entire game all I could think was that BYU had better start praying to the patron saints of BYU wins, St. Beryl Neff, St. Paul Neff, and St. Stan Watts in order to procure a win.  If they don't get some serious heavenly assistance, they're going to get whipped.  Mostly because Gonzaga's team is mostly black.  I'm sorry, but in the past, the whities from BYU never match up well against all-black teams.  Mostly because they're too slow, too short, and too white.  I know, it's not PC, but it's true none-the-less.

5.  I also picked three upsets in yesterday's games.  I didn't get one right.  And not only did I not get them right, the teams I picked to do the upsetting got WHIPPED.  Shows you what I know.

6.  Carolyn is getting to be quite the little leach.  Whenever we're eating - we eat sitting on the floor rather than at the table.  We've done that since we've been married - she tries to climb on your lap and grab whatever it is you're eating.  When you move to put it in your mouth, she leans in and opens her mouth as if every bite of food that's consumed in this house should rightfully belong to her.  This morning she had some of Husband's sandwich and my toast and then a cracker of her own.  When they were all gone, she screamed.  Then she puked it all up.

7.  Also, Carolyn is finally speaking in syllables.  She only says ba-ba-ba in normal conversations and screams ma-ma-ma-ma when she's upset.  I'm scared that's a sign of things to come.

8.  Husband says I need to go to a detox program for blogging.  He says I'm addicted.  To that I say he should be thankful.  I don't shop.  I don't sew.  I don't scrapbook.  I don't travel.  I barely read anymore. I barely leave the house unless it's to go to work or church. I do nothing that costs money.  Blogging is a free, creative outlet for me.  In fact, it's the only thing I do purely for myself.

9.  I had two massage clients yesterday who had absolutely no knots to speak of.  It made me want to make them get off the table - so I could get on and they could give me a massage.  One of the ladies even refused to take her bluetooth out of her ear and spent the entire 30 mintues of the massage on the phone.  REALLY??

10.  As I was leaving work, one of the nail techs pulled me aside and asked why I don't work Mondays and Tuesdays because lots of clients "ask for the massa".  I told her that I have a baby and stay home to take care of her.  She just tossed out that I should put the baby in daycare immediately and sign up to work more.  She said it so casually, I was actually quite offended.  I know I've talked about this before, but it drives me crazy how people think that you shouldn't take care of your own kids.  I tried to explain to her that if my already available times were full, I might consider making extra time available, but right now, there are no benefits to working more.  I tried to tell her that I'm a mom first, a massage therapist second.  She just stared at me blankly and repeated, "You put baby in daycare."

Yeah...Padma in a bikini in the middle of a cooking contest was a bit of a head scratcher for me. Again, too bad we didn't live closer. I would give you dance lessons for massages. Judy and the youth in Ruby Valley will be learning a few steps when we go out for branding.

PLEASE don't stop blogging! I love reading your blog every day!
Padma also drives me nuts. I LOVE Top Chef even though they curse too much, and I really want Richard to win. What are Padma's credentials to host the show anyway? Just that's she's pretty and likes to eat? I like to eat. I could use a job like that.
Also, I know this was for a different post, but I love your commentary on Charles Barkley. The man is hilarious!
