Chronicles of Puke

As you all know, Carolyn is a puker.

She pukes like 20 times a day.

That's a conservative estimate.

The doctor says it's fine, she's just a "happy spitter".

That means that even though she's puking constantly, she manages to hold on to enough of her food to gain weight.

We've tried everything - feeding more, feeding less, feeding less more often, etc.

Nothing changes the sheer volume of vomit she is able to produce.

This has been a problem since she was born.

But recently, it's been taken to a whole new level. for two reasons:  1.  Carolyn now sees her puddles of puke as finger paint.  2.  She's also eating solids.

Tonight as I was getting her ready for bed, I kept smelling something.

Something nasty.

I figured it was Carolyn so I stripped her down and threw her into the tub.

The smell didn't go away.

I kept looking for it.

Is it Carolyn's sheets?

Is it Carolyn's PJs?

Is it Carolyn's blanket?

Nope, nope, nope.

It was totally me.

From where Carolyn had ralphed on me earlier.

I mean, it's one thing to smell like sour milk.

It's quite another to smell like actual throw up all the time.

I only have one more thing to say:  ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?

Other people's kids don't do this.

And by the time they're 7.5 months, they're also sleeping through the night.

And probably smiling for their parent's camera.

I'm feeling pretty persecuted.

I thought Marshall would never stop spitting up. One time he spit all over one of Jill Hayes' beautiful dresses. I was so embarrassed. Eventually he outgrew it. Well, I think. You might want to ask Shannon!

Uh, the first two took longer than 7 months to sleep through the night. I found that it was me who caused it. I would jump up to quiet Ian down when we were living across the hall from mom and dad. Then, with Cameron I did the same thing because he was sharing a room with Ian and I didn't want him to wake Ian up. He started sleeping through the night immediately when we moved to our new house, and he was too far away for me to hear him. Reese started sleeping through the night at 2 months. I can't believe it took me 3 kids to learn my lesson. Now I can't believe I'd go snatch Cameron out of the room if he was making any noise. Both he and Cameron could sleep through a shuttle launch!

Oh - and PS - you already know that Cameron was just like Carolyn...as far as the spitting goes. Only a few months....she'll begrown out of it in no time.
