I'm a Hippie

1.  I totally made my own baby wipes last night.  Like a hippie.  But a hippie that doesn't care about throwing away paper towels.  My sister and sister-in-law also make their own wipes - I've been meaning to for months and haven't gotten around to it.  I might have gotten a little ambitious with the baby soap and lavender oil - the edges of the towels are a little slimy.  I'll be more careful next time.  Oh, and also, we're going to ditch the lavender and go straight for the tea tree oil.

2.  Valentine's Day is over and we all know what that means.  Easter candy is on the shelves.  And that means CADBURY MINI-EGGS!  I'm going to eat an extra lot of them this year since I was pregnant and barfing last year.  I brought some home yesterday and Husband said, "Oh, I guess you didn't read the story on the Internet about botulism in those eggs."  I just about peed my pants in fury.  Then he said he was kidding.  But I was still mad.

3.  How long can it honestly take Carolyn to learn to crawl properly??  She started trying almost a month ago and still she's just dragging herself around.  She decided she needed to practice again last night at 12:30.  And 2:30.  Of course, she was in her swaddle, so she didn't make it very far, which just made her scream louder.  Looks like I'm going to have to take her out of the swaddle for real - I found her face down when I went in there and since her hands are swaddled down, she couldn't get turned back over.  It was kind of like a turtle stuck on their back.  It would be funny except I'm pretty sure she was having a hard time breathing.

4.  Is there any reason I can't eat without getting food all over my clothes?  I mean, not like it matters because Carolyn's usually spit up on me and my shirt's dirty anyway, but come on!

5.  It's supposed to be in the 70's for the rest of the week.  If this continues for 10 more days, guess what?!  I can buy and plant tomatoes!  And strawberries!  And cucumbers!  I'm so excited!

6.  I went to Target with my friend, Shannon, yesterday.  I'm usually a very methodical shopper, but gabbing with her got me all turned around and I had to walk all the way around the store at least twice to get the things I needed.  Good thing Shannon's a patient one!

7.  Carolyn didn't nap all day yesterday.  Finally, on the way home from the store, she started to whine.  She was asleep when I got home - like so asleep, she didn't wake up when I took her out of her car seat.  I put her down at just after 4 and had to wake her up at 7 so I could feed her and get her ready for bed.  This did not make her happy.

8.  I was able to Skype with Grainne this morning and see her engagement ring!  Just gorgeous!  Whenever someone else gets engaged, it always makes me remorseful that I didn't let Husband propose to me.  Nope, not me.  I couldn't wait for that crap.  I'd already informed him that we were getting married and here's when and here's where.

9.  Carolyn tried bananas yesterday for the first time.  I couldn't get them in her mouth fast enough.

10.  Husband had a job interview on Monday.  He has another one today.  Tomorrow, he has another job fair with a bunch of big name banks.  Now if only the big name banks would offer him a job with big name money...

I looked today and our mini-eggs aren't out yet... BOOOO!!! I do believe they are absolutely the BEST candy ever made and I'm glad that they're only available between now and Easter or I'd be as big as a house by now!

Kendra - I thought you were married! But, since you're not, telling a man you're getting married and there's nothing he can do about it is golden. That's what I did to Husband...and he loved it. Or something.

Shannon - there's a link to Becky's blog on how to make baby wipes if you want to see it!

Becky - Of course it's linkable! Guess what's up next?! Laundry soap! I just have to find a five gallon bucket with a lid and it's on like neck bone.

I use a different recipe for wipes, but I'm going to add tea tree oil. If you don't use them fast enough, they go bad and really don't smell very good. Also, I like to fold the paper towels and put them in a regular wipe box. It takes a little more time, but it's totally worth it!

Mmm--Cadbury eggs rock! Now I'm going to have to go peruse the grocery stores!

They carry the 5 gal buckets at Wal Mart. The tip I wish I'd known is to transfer your soap from the 5 Gal BEFORE it gels, into smaller, shakable containers. It's super hard to shake 5 gallons of liquid, even if you did grow up on a ranch. :D
I used empty Tide bottles.
Also, my aunt in law says the whites don't come out so clean, so to add oxiclean to the whites. I haven't had that trouble yet though. I'm glad you're trying on crunchiness. If nothing else, it's cheaper. :)
