1. I went to my very first girl's night out last night. I'm not going to lie, the idea of an all girls deal kind of made me cringe. Don't ask me why. But, I dutifully packed up some fingernail polish and headed over - because if girls don't paint each others fingernails at these deals, what on earth do they do? I mean, it's basically a slumber party but afterward, we get to go home and sleep in our own beds, right? Yeah, not so much. There were five of us girls and let me tell you, when I finally got home close to midnight (I know, I'm totally a party girl), I had a headache in my face from laughing so hard. I don't think there was a topic that wasn't broached. And, even when I asked one girl if I could see and feel her undies (what? I was curious!), she didn't make me feel like the socially backward freak I actually am. My favorite part of the night when we were talking about the Twilight series - Holli came up with this beauty, "I am sorry, but making love to a freezing cold vampire in a super hot room doesn't sound good to me, to me, it sounds like the flu."
2. Carolyn is pulling up regularly now. Including in the bathroom - using the toilet. The only problem is, she can't figure out how to get back down. The way she sees it, there are only two options - face planting from a standing position or falling straight backward. We have a head-bump-and-scream-fest about once every 20 minutes. I try not to react and she usually gets over it in less than ten seconds. Lets just hope that one of these times she doesn't end up with a concussion.
3. And speaking of Carolyn pulling up, it really is the best thing to be cautious and be 100% clothed before she gets to you because she doesn't care what she she grabs to get into the standing position - skin, hair, nipples...and believe me, once she gets a handful, she's not letting go.
4. I had the nicest compliment given to me yesterday. I had my fourth repeat client. She said that between this massage and the last one, she'd been to Las Vegas where she'd paid $225 for some mud relaxation massage nonsense. Then she said, "Girl, I went through all of that and it was ok, but the only think I could think was, Erin does a much better job than this." And, of course, I countered with, "So you're saying that other than Celine Dion, Vegas ain't got nothin; on us?"
5. I also had a therapy session during a massage yesterday - a mother of two babies - a 22 month old and a 3 month old. She talked through the entire massage about how hard it is to be a stay-at-home mom. Bless her heart.
6. BYU won yesterday against 6th ranked San Diego State. They were talking during the game about how BYU may be a #1 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament. That's never happened. EVER. However, I think they ought to let BYU get past the New Mexico team that beat them a month ago before they start talking like that.
7. The whole cry-it-out thing is going a lot better. Carolyn still has trouble right around 3 am, but I think it's mostly because she's sick and coughing all night long.
8. The Owner has taken a liking to me. He asked me Thursday to type a liability letter for pedicure clients to sign. He said, "Yeah, you smart girl! You go college and everything!" My very favorite thing he says in English is, "Naw, man, it all goooood." Except he never puts the "d" on "good". He also thinks we need to high five every time we pass each other.
9. Carolyn found my plate of Nutella toast on the floor this morning before I could stop her. She pulled her finger through the Nutella and shoved it immediately in her mouth. She sucked every bit of the Nutella off and then tried to come back for more. The girl knows good when she tastes it.
10. I was walking down the herb aisle at Lowe's and smelled mint chip ice cream. That's my very fave ice cream of all time. I searched high and low for where the smell was coming from and guess what I found?! A chocolate mint herb plant. WHO KNEW?? Naturally, I bought the plant. I don't really know what I'm going to do with it, but I totally have it, you know.
