Baby, It's Cold Outside

1.  It's cold outside.  I loooooove it.  Because now I can wear my sweatshirts and 15-year-old WHS track sweats.  Now if only I hadn't disposed of my giant collection of Japanese fleece socks, my life would be even better.

2.  Speaking of it being cold, all of the schools in the area are closed today in anticipation of bad weather.  I think it's really funny.  Because there actually is no bad weather.  Like the rain and "wintery mix" weather didn't come to fruition.  So kids all over Southeast Texas are sitting at home, driving their parents crazy and thinking, "Na na na na na!"

3.  The bad thing about cold weather?  No one's going anywhere.  And that means no one's coming for massages.  And that means a very lean week.

4.  I might be obsessed with Kohl's.  They have the cutest little girl clothes.  That being said, the thing about Kohl's that drives me crazy is that literally everything is on sale.  If you're going to sell something for $10, why don't you just mark it $10 instead of marking it $20 with a 50% off sale??  I swear, they spend more money on sale signage than they're actually making.

5.  You know what's awesome about having a kid who spits up a lot?  A kid who spits up a lot who is now eating peas and carrots.  There really is nothing like cleaning up spit up that looks like rotten pureed carrots.

6.  I spent most of yesterday afternoon trying to hang shadow boxes in my massage room.  After finally getting them up and making a billion giant holes in the wall, I decided that I don't like them.  Even a little bit.

7.  I have this small addiction - to cookie dough - that goes back to when I was a little kid.  I blame it on my siblings.  We used to make cookie dough 2-3 times a week.  This was always a great disappointment to my dad because he would see the dough and then come back later looking for cookies only to find that there weren't any.

8. Speaking of my dad, I've been thinking about him a lot.  I have a friend who always talks about her wonderful father.  Most of the time, I love the stories, but some of the time, I want to jump up and down, shake my fists, and scream, "IT'S NOT FAIR!  HOW COME YOU GET TO KEEP YOUR DAD AND I DIDN'T GET TO KEEP MINE?"

9. You know what movie is really funny?  Red.  Hysterical.

10.  Is it wrong to go through your neighbor's garbage?  Our neighbor is moving and there's all this cool stuff in their garbage can...and I might want some of it.  But I don't want to look like a vagrant.

11.  Carolyn is cutting her first two teeth (the bottom two).  I thought she'd somehow gotten a pebble in her mouth and made her scream while looking for it - nope, it's a tooth - I'm an awesome parent.  I wonder how long it will take for her teeth to come all the way in.  I mean, she's been rocking back and forth on her knees for two weeks and still won't crawl, so it might be a month or so before we can actually see her teeth.

I am sorry bout your dad. And it doesn't matter what age you lose a parent. My mom died September of pancreatic cancer at the age of 86. My heart hurts, the hole is still there, and I wish she could come back to me. Erin, I don't think these feelings ever go away. And no matter what some one says to us, nothing can fill our loss.
