1. Since it's my last day, no one is giving me any work. Not that this is out of the ordinary, but it's kind of like I'm being completely ignored. I'm not very sad about that, either.
2. I was reading an article about how financial status effects kids' academic scores. I was thinking that it's not so much money as it is having someone at home who cares about education. And then I was thinking that when Carolyn gets into advanced math, there are going to be problems at our house. I took my last algebra class in college at the age of 18...and I got a C (this may or may not have been because I skipped class all the time because I hate algebra). It's been nearly 15 years since then. By the time Carolyn starts algebra at age 12-13, it will have been 27 or 28 years since my last math class. Yeah. That's what I get for not starting my family as a teenager.
3. I had my exit interview just now down at Human Resources. Can anyone tell me why I can't have access to my retirement plan? I mean, I know there are rules and stuff. But, I knew this job wouldn't be forever when I started it and didn't want to put money in a 401K to begin with, but was forced to. Now I can't have that money for 25 more years, by which I will have become senile and forgotten about it completely.
4. As I was waiting for Carolyn to cry-it-out at 1am this morning one thought kept running through my head, "I wonder how mad Husband would be if a Kindle just "magically" showed up on our doorstep for me. I mean, I need one, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to drop $190 without telling him, right??"
5. I've just decided to try to sneak out early today...and avoid having to say goodbye to anyone. Mostly because I still feel awkward about hugging my co-workers. I was never forced to hug my co-workers before I moved to Texas.
6. And, just as I've decided to leave early, my boss, who's never filled out an absence sheet in his life, has told me that if I leave, I won't get paid for the whole day. Kill joy. Really, what's the point of me staying?
7. Olive Garden Minestrone Soup for dinner tonight. With crusty rolls. And maybe since I seem to have overbought on Cheese Whiz this weekend, we'll just set that out and eat it off our fingers.
8. I went looking to order some Thermasoft soyaffin mits last night and found that they've quit making them. I don't know that I've ever been this sad. Unless it was when I found out that Shade Clothing went out of business.
9. I printed my blog for the last year yesterday. Three-hundred-twenty pages. And, even though I edited it, somehow a picture of old Diana Rigg ended up on the back cover. I'm going to have to think of something fancy to cover it up.

I have a yummy, super easy soup recipe that calls for Cheese Whiz! If you want it, let me know!
I absolutely want that recipe. I love Cheese Whiz!
Here you go!
6-8 med. potatoes, cut into pieces
3-5 carrots, sliced
2-5 celery stalks, sliced
1 med. onion
2 quarts water (8 cups)
4 chicken bouillon cubes
Boil the above until veggies are tender. Melt 2 cubes of butter and stir in 3/4 C. flour. Add to veggies and stir. Add 1/2 of 15 oz. jar (or one small jar) of cheese whiz. Stir that in so it's all melted. It will thicken up if you turn off the heat at that point and let it sit for a few minutes.
Enjoy! I usually go with 6 potatoes and 5 each of the carrots and celery.
FYI, Shade Clothing is evidently coming back this spring! I got an email from them a few weeks ago... And congrats on ditching Lamar!! Did the salon thing ever get straightened out?
Diana Rigg - ha! So funny! I printed out my son's missionary blog per your instructions, btw, and it came out really good. Keep sharing, keep writing. You know all the people out here who should be cleaning out closets are instead just waiting to read about your adventures.
You may not be able to draw on your retirement, but I bet you can roll it in to your husband's retirement. Still crappy, but better than forgetting about it.
I think the penalties are minimal or none if you roll it over into another type of IRA account. I hear the Roth IRA has more lax rules than a 401K. Someday maybe we'll actually have one too. I drew all my money out of my 401K so we could buy a van. So, there's proof that you can actually withdraw it, you just pay taxes up the yin yang.
