1. Yesterday was the work Christmas party. Under the guise of being the event photographer (self-appointed, of course), I tried to get pictures of all the awesome people I work with. Unfortunately, none of them were very thrilled about having a camera in their faces and as such were entirely uncooperative. I'm hoping at least some of them are salvageable because like I said, some of them are AWESOME.
2. I almost pitched The Tummy Toucher yesterday. As in almost-threw-her-across-the-room. Magically, I was extra, super busy yesterday morning. I had three different workmen here who were giving me my morning marching orders. The Tummy Toucher started calling my phone. Repeatedly. Like hanging up and calling right back. FIVE TIMES IN A ROW. Then, she showed up at my desk and started talking over the men about how I treated them like they're more important than her. It was all I could do to not choke her. I told her, in my very nicest voice that she needed to back the eff off before I got violent.
3. I still haven't seen hide nor hair of the little wild cat I took home last week. However, something is eating the food I've put out for her. I sure hope it's not that rotten wild white tom cat.
4. Wednesday and Thursday of next week are "Energy Conservation Days" here at the University. This is fancy talk for "two days where employees are forced to take vacation days without the option to work". And guess what? If you don't have vacation time for those two days, you don't get paid for any of the Christmas break.
5. And speaking of vacation, we are off from December 22-January 3. That's only three working days away if you don't count today. How can I focus and be productive when I can practically smell freedom?
6. I'm still not happy with my daycare. Last night, I dawdled a little bit when I was picking up Carolyn just to see how the employees reacted to the kids. There were eleven kids and three workers in the room. Three of the babies were crying. I waited and waited for the workers to offer some type of comfort or stimulation. They were too busy talking about who they were dating. I waited for fifteen minutes. The babies cried the entire time and there wasn't one move made toward any of them to help. Eventually, I had to leave, but if they're like that when there's a parent in the room, how are they when no one's watching? Again, can someone tell me if this is normal and if I'm expecting too much?
7. Carolyn slept from 7:30 to 5:45 last night. It was wonderful. Now if only the mother didn't wake up at 4 to worry about things that are beyond her control, that would really be something!
8. I love, love, love Top Chef. But, I don't love Padma Lakshmi (the hostess). She seems overly pretentious to me. And, I understand that she's a beautiful woman, but some of the clothes she wears...
9. Someone brought a beautiful gift basket from Williams and Sonoma to work the other day. It had peppermint bark in it. I tried to hijack the entire box before anyone saw me. I was unsuccessful.
10. I still want a Kindle. And a Kinect. Just so everyone who wants to give me a nice gift knows.

You are SOOOO NOT over-reacting about the daycare situation. I worked at a daycare for 10 years and if any of the employees had acted as the ones you describe they would have been fired. You are not expecting to much and they are DEFINETLY not doing enough. Hope you find somewhere better soon.
I also say that you are definitely not expecting to much from the day care! They need to shape it up!
