A Word to the Wise...

1.  A word to the wise - make sure you put your baby crib together before the 38th week of pregnancy.  Husband had to work yesterday, so in the process of cleaning the upstairs, I thought, "Come on, now, Erin, how hard can it really be to put a crib together by yourself?"  What I'd forgotten is that I'm basically as big as a hippopotamus.  And that carrying a 60 pound box upstairs presents a big problem.  But did that stop me?  Hell, no, it didn't.  I'm regretting it.  A lot.  I didn't know I could hurt worse than I already did.  Boy, was I wrong.  I could have stopped halfway through when I was sure I'd pulled something, but half-finished anythings drive me insane.  Today, my entire body feels like it's on fire.  I kept thinking that maybe my water would break...it didn't.  Instead, I just sweated like a fat man at a cake eating contest.

2.  And speaking of cribs, I'm sorry to have to tell everyone this, but if my baby wets or pukes on the crib sheets, she's just going to have to sleep in it for the rest of her life.  Have you ever tried putting sheets on those stupid little mattresses??  It's like stuffing my legs into pantyhose.

3.  We were thrilled with the German win over the Argentinian team in the World Cup this weekend.  Ooo-weee, those Germans have some sexy legs.  Does anyone know if David Hasselhoff was at the match?  I kept looking for him.  All we saw was stupid Leonardo DiCaprio.

4.  It's really sad that the best part of my holiday weekend was the fact that we bought some of that foaming bathtub cleaner.  The kind that goes on blue and changes to white when it's time to take it off?  Yeah, well, spraying it on might be one of the funnest things I've ever done in my entire life.  I might have overdone it just a little. Oh, and it doesn't clean worth squat, just so you know.

5.  Husband hurt his elbow at work last week...or, maybe you wouldn't call it "hurt"...it swelled up and stuff, just like his knees randomly did last year.  I'll tell you what, having him one-armed and me pregnant and unable to stand up all by my onesies has really cramped my style.

6.  We went to Target on Saturday to exchange some baby stuff.  I also bought a giant box of diapers while we were there.  Husband said, "Ninety-two diapers??  That's like enough to last us the entire time she's little!"  Yup.  You're right.  The entire time.

7.  I think I'm more than a little delusional about how big newborn babies actually are.  I keep looking at the 0-3 month clothes and thinking, "There's no way the baby's going to fit into this.  It's tiny!"  And then I remember that I'm going to have to birth this "tiny" thing and am hoping she'll be A LOT smaller than the clothes.

8.  The ladies at work threw me a surprise baby shower on Friday afternoon.  I just love surprises when I have no idea they're coming (knowing they're coming are another thing - then, they just drive me crazy)!  I got a lot of things I needed - like ten, yes, ten binkies.

9.  The Relief Society President mentioned at the end of the meeting on Sunday that I was the next girl slated to give birth (have I told you the Mormons of southeast Texas are trying to re-populate the world all by themselves?)  I might have thrown my hands up in the air and shouted, "WOOOO!  You better believe it's going to happen!"  I also wanted to add in, "Can I get a hallelujah AMEN?!"  but I didn't.

10.  You know what the best food on the entire planet is?  Snickers salad.  I made some last night and it's about all I can think about right now.

You'll go through 90 diapers in like a week. And - just so you know - Ian never fit in the newborn clothes. He was too big from the get go. Cameron was smaller, and I had to go buy a few things so he'd have something to wear for a week until he grew into everything else. Yes a week - maybe two. They don't stay that little for very long.

Your comment about The Hoff made me laugh. My coworker is German, and we talk about their love for The Hoff all the time. She denies it and says we are perpetuating stereotypes, blah, blah, blah. She can't hide her love from me.

You would think all that hard labor would put you into labor, but all it does it make you hurt. I was canning peaches and tomatoes before my twins were born. Did they come early? NO! The little stinkers! Sorry you hurt so much! I hope you get to relax a little now.

We went through 90 diapers a week with the twins. 8-10 diapers a day for the first while. It's amazing how fast they go through them! But it does get better.

I had one of those water proof crib/lap pads (I think they are made for babies who wear cloth diapers?) that I kept right under my son in case of any wet accidents during the night. A lot easier to replace one of those than those stubborn crib sheet!

Kudos to you for putting the crib together by yourself! They're not easy!

When i read that you got ten binkis I thought it said ten bikinis and I thought "that's odd."

It boggles the mind how you can have 10 binkies and then all of a sudden, poof, you can't find a one of them when they are needed. :) When we first had Payson, Bud's sister offered to give us the rest of a pack of size ones that her daughter had grown out of. He wasn't that enthusiastic about it and so his sister asked how many diapers he thought a newborn would go through in a day. He said, "I dunno. 2 or 3?" HA! Nice buy on the 92 pack. You'll need it. :)

Oh my word, I'm going to have to check back on a regular basis - you are so histerical (I know I said it once already in another comment but it has to be said again!)!!! Have you considered posting several times a day and charging admission?!? I love it!!
