Detox

So it turns out that over the last two months, I only thought I was vomiting a lot.

When I went to the doctor the other day, I was forced to discuss my embarrassing intestinal issues.

And my consequent intake of billions and billons of prunes.

The Doctor told me the intestinal blockages were a direct result of my anti-nausea medication, Zofran.

Well, I thought, I'd rather throw up than not be able to go to the bathroom.  I'll just stop the Zofran.

And I did.

For three whole days.

And for three whole days literally everything I put in my mouth came back up.  It was violent.

It was a vicious cycle - sick because there wasn't anything in my stomach, sick because there was, sick and standing over the toilet, bawling my eyes out, sick, sick, sick.

This morning, I couldn't handle it anymore.  Enough really is enough in this case.

Now I'm back to square one.  Any ideas on what's next?

No ideas, but I thought the title was "BOTOX", and I was really excited to read what you had to say about it. If there's anything that can be mocked for hours, it is excessive botox injections. And if there's anyone who can make fun of stuff for hours, its probably you.

When I worked at Basic Foods, several customer told me that their pregnancy nausea was taken care of with something called "Ginger Tonic" (or something like that...from a company called New Chapter). Its basically a ginger and other herbs liquid for about $10. It might be worth a shot. And if it doesn't work....well...people will think you've gone organic when they go poking around your medicine cabinet.

This may sound completely crazy but I had a friend that was sick through her WHOLE pregnancy! Like had to be hospitalized because she was dehydrated and so ill. Anyway, her last pregnancy she decided to try acupuncture. She is a total believer and it helped her so much. I haven't ever been as sick as you or her so I don't know and as far as the Zofran thing. I haven't had to take it consistently for a long period of time. Sorry I am not better help.

If only you could get some of that yogurt from Japan that you ate in Obihiro (I think). You know, the supa-geri stuff.

Ugg, I feel your pain. All of the anti acid medications I've been given give me side effects that are worse than my original symptoms!

Maybe you should just keep taking the Zofran and ask your doctor if there's any safe OTC remedy for your OTHER problem. Certainly metamucil - or however you spell it - would be safe. Don't they sell fiber pills? You should go to a retirement home and see what they use on their worst cases.

Enemas are what they use on their worst cases. NO THANK YOU.

I've already been talking Benefiber like it's going out of style, stool softeners, prunes, Fiber One bars, etc. I even thought about cardboard - and I totally would eat it if I thought it would help.

The doctor did say I could take Miralax, which is the same stuff they give you if you're having a colonoscopy. He said I could adjust the dose and that it would probably "only take me a couple of weeks to get it right". Until then I guess I should just stay within five feet of a toilet at all times??
