I just wanted to tell you a funny story.
I have that picture of Nick and me in your old Ford truck sitting on my desk.
The Planner came by the other day, pointed at it and said, "You and your daddy?"
I just started to giggle.
Because all I could think about was how not alike you and Nick look.
Not that he would know that.
I said, "No, sir, that's me and my husband."
He said, "Your husband? How old were you when you got married? You look 14 in this picture."
Ummm...no, sir, that picture was taken three years ago. When I was 28.
I also wanted to tell you that some boys are singing Family Night for the Primary program next Sunday. It includes these words, "This is the night we've waited for, always a treat we have in store, we love each other more and more with every family night..."
It made me think of that one talk by Elder Ballard where he was talking about attempting to have family prayer and Family Home Evening when his kids were little. He said, "It wasn't always a howling success. In fact, I think most of the time there was more howling than success."
I wonder if you and mom felt that way. Even at that, you stuck with it. I remember having family scripture study (and weekly FHE) as early as age three. I think everyone got to read one verse - including me and Carolyn even though we took twice as long because you had to whisper the verse in our ears so we could repeat it.
It also makes me think of the part in, Love at Home, "Roses bloom beneath our feet, all the earth's a garden sweet, when there's love at home..."
You always used to laugh at that...and also the title of the hymn, Lean on My Ample Arm.
Thank you for being an example.
Love,
Erin
