Dear Dad,

Yes, I dreamt.

The entire family was sitting in a church pew, crying. I was standing in the back of the chapel when suddenly I saw Carolyn walk in and sit down. Nancy turned around to see me standing there with my mouth hanging open. She signed to me, "WHAT?"

I started signing rapidly back, "Carolyn's sitting right next to you. RIGHT THERE!"

She just shook her head and signed back, "Well, that's really no big deal, Dad's sitting on the other end."

I woke up thinking two things:

1. Yeah, it kind of is a big deal and
2. How on earth am I signing in my dream when I haven't signed in years?

I also just wanted you to know I started exercising again.

Some of my very earliest memories of you include getting ready for Wells Track Day.

You used to re-paint that 100 yard mark on the road every May. And get out the stop watch. And we would run. Sometimes you would race us. And sometimes you even let us win.

You and mom would pack a lunch. And set up a picnic down at the bottom of the track. You would hold our ribbons in your pocket. And at the end of the day, we'd line up and you would tell us to display our ribbons and you'd take a picture.

I think I won every event at least once. Except the softball toss. Remember the one year when I tossed the softball nearly straight up? And it hit the crossbar of the football uprights? And ricocheted back and hit me square in the forehead?

I pretended I was really hurt but I wasn't. I was just embarrassed but didn't want anyone to know.

But I think you did.

I miss you.

Love,

Erin

i can't wait until dad and carolyn are with us again. i've been reading dad's and carolyn's letters to me on my mission. carolyn's are really funny, and I'm actually learning a lot from dad's letters.
also, I was out of commission for exercising during deer camp, but i went out the last two days, and it feels great! except for all the hunters who are driving back and forth looking for deer to shoot. i feel like telling them that we only allow children to hunt near the pivots, and if they wanted a deer, they should get off their butts, and walk up on the mountain and sneak up on one. We don't need people blasting away near our children and livestock. All the inexperienced hunters really drool over the Sharp's pivots. I bet dad is glad he doesn't have to deal with hunters anymore.
