Ahhhh...last night I had my first nashi of the season. Bless Husband's heart for reminding me it was time. I almost missed it altogether. Crispy, juicy, and delicious. I know I've said it before (85 million times) but this is the fruit of the Gods.
I bought 6 nashi (we always just call them Asian pears) at SAMS for under 5 bucks. It was a miracle. A gal in my ward has 2 (yes, that's right 2) asian pear trees that produce fruit in her backyard. The asian neighbors were caught picking them without asking first. I told her that next time it's gonna be me.
No, G, they won't still be in season. They're really only good from the end of August till the end of September. Of course, they still sell them all year round down here...for $2.50/each.
And Rissa, GOOD GRIEF. As soon as I get a house the first thing to go in, even before I set my packing boxes down, will be 43 nashi seeds. Nashi is Japanese for Asian pear, btw.
