Bawled Out

Ooooo-weeeee I got bawled out at work today.

I've been working on correcting a referral for another doctor's office non-stop for about 4 weeks. A referral I didn't even mess up in the first place.

I've called everyone and their dog. Literally. I've talk to many dogs.

It seems everywhere I called informed me they "didn't handle that" and gave me a new number of someone who also didn't handle it. In fact, I counted up the telephone numbers I collected - a total of six - where no one knew anything.

I kept the other doctor's office informed of my progress, even telling them that I had been out of town for my dad's funeral and would be out of town again last week so nothing would be done until I got back.

I worked on it every spare moment yesterday. I called and told them that.

This morning their head billing lady called and screamed at me. About how I obviously don't know how to do my job. And how I am obviously irresponsible. And how it's all my fault this referral wasn't done properly. And how it's also my fault that they are now going to have to bill the patient $200.

It was all I could do not to scream back, "HOW DARE YOU! DO YOU KNOW WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH OVER THE LAST FOUR WEEKS? YOU'RE GOING TO HELL FOR YELLING AT ME."

Instead I just sat there. And apologized profusely.

And thought of all the other things I would say if confrontation didn't make my stomach churn.

Fax the nut job all the info you collected with a nice note that says if she's so good at her job and you suck at yours, here's what you've been working on for a month while dealing with everything else you've had to deal with and she can take it from there. Also, tell her I'm going to beat her up.
