I have no idea who is responsible for deciding who gets loans, unemployment, and food stamps, but I have a BEEF with ALL OF THEM. Ok, so not so much the food stamp people.
I applied for disaster unemployment. Result: DENIED. The reason? I hadn't been out of work long enough to qualify.
I applied for a private student loan. Result: DENIED. The reason? I apparently can't apply for that certain loan without first having applied for a federal loan. The only problem with that is that the school I've chosen to go to isn't on the list of schools approved for federal loans. I explained this to them and only got a, "I'm sorry ma'am, those are the rules."
It appears that Erin Peters, the girl who has never asked the government for a smidgen of help, has never had a loan in her entire life, yes, the same girl who happens to have really good credit, doesn't qualify for a red hot low-interest cent from anyone - federally or privately funded.
Does this seem odd to anyone? I mean with $700 billion in bad loans that the government just purchased (not even $1 was mine), you would think I could get someone to give me $3,000.
I'm standing on my last leg here. It looks like the only option left is a bank loan - at 12-15% interest instead of the 6-8% I would have gotten (along with deferred payments) had I been able to get a student loan.
This is messed up. And it's making me not be able to sleep at night. And it's STUPID. Really stupid.

Yes it is stupid. Kyle and I haven't received any help either... Kyle who has paid taxes since he was 14 years old and has great credit, can't get any help.
Lovely, right?
The government is bizarre. I know people who got help and didn't deserve it and people who didn't get help and did.
Do you have a credit card with no balance on it? If so, get your private bank loan for the $3000, then do a balance transfer to that credit card. That's what I did and instead of paying 15% interest, I'm paying 1.99 fixed until it is payed off. There's your answer. You're welcome. :)
Hey, I have absolutely no idea how to get money from the government but here's a japanese translation job with Technical Language Services, Inc. I found in the BYU newspaper. It says it is FT or PT and you can work from anywhere. Don't ask why I was reading the BYU paper and that I've kept it for 2 weeks...Strange. Anyhow, sounds cool to do massage therapy.

From where I stand, it looks like the only ones that receive help from the government are the ones that refuse to get off their bums and do something for themselves. Seriously, don't get me started on this. It is absolutely absurd how this jacked up system works.
