Dealey Plaza

We, along with hundreds of other conspiracy nerds gathered today at Dealey Plaza this morning to confirm our interest in the assassination of JFK. Husband is a conspiracy buff. While I am also very interested in this case, I cannot consider myself a "buff" as I can't really remember names, dates, or locations...things that seem to be important to investigations for some reason.

Husband is pretty well versed but even he seemed surprised at the length of Elm Street - it always looks so long in the pictures, models, and videotapes.

The good news is that the museum on the 6th floor of the School Book Depository is making bank by charging $13.50/person - and then not even allowing any of the 500 daily visitors a gander from the window from which Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot the President. I want to stand at the window with a rifle to see if I could make those shots...either that or I want to see someone else doing it.

All in all, it was a very cool experience.

The X where the first shot hit JFK.

Husband on the Grassy Knoll...notice how he has cleverly stayed in the shadows to disguise his position.

The third shot would have been VERY easy to make from here...

The view from the middle of the road where the first shot hit and the distance to the School Book Depository 6th story window (Husband watched for cars so I was not smashed like a frog).
.
Husband gauges the distance...a fair shot had it not been for the tree...but why didn't Oswald shoot the President while he was coming down Houston - so much easier.

The distance from the building the third shot would have had to travel. Not very far but you have to remember that he had taken ALL THREE shots in six seconds...even for an expert marksman, very difficult.

In the end, the Peters Commision has nothing new to add to all the theories - we are still nerds, still believe there was more than one shooter (Husband says as many as three with a total of five shots), and still want the FBI to release everything they have. The good news is, this is slated to happen sometime this century...SCORE. We also found that the Oliver Stone movie, JFK, is 100% true...except for 50% of it that's made up.

My grandparents were on their way to attend JFK's fundraising event in Dallas when he was shot. Wierd, eh? Man, I can't believe you're in my stomping grounds. I'm so jealous.
