I want so badly to wear cute shoes. The thing about it is that I am short and stumpy and flats just make me look shorter and stumpier. The alternative is heels - from the kitten heel to the high heel.
Yesterday I tried to wear a semi-high heel with my cute little black dress. They have a pretty square heel, meaning that they have at least something for me to stand on and they were a little costly, making me think that they would have some kind of support to them. I strutted my stuff for approximately 30 minutes before I felt like I was going to break off at the ankles.
I hobbled around until just after 1 pm and then was forced to go to my car to retrieve my already-prepared flats...I just didn't have confidence that I could actually get through the entire day in heels. I was right. As suspected, the cute little black dress lost it's luster as I became closer to the floor and while checking myself out in the window, I found that instead of tall and stately, I looked like a square block.
When I got home, poor Husband had to rub my feet most of the night..and bless his heart for being willing.
Are there no reasonably priced alternatives for people like me who have bodies/feet/a brain that will not allow them to be fashionable while also not having to experience excruciating pain??

Erin - WHATEVER! You can rock some flats!! It doesn't matter if you're shorter. When wearing flats it's all about the calf to ankle ratio. And, honey, no one can accuse you of having "cankles." Go ahead and rock those flats. High heels are only good for first dates. And, well, we don't have to worry about that now, do we?
And, by the way, that comment was said in my very best gay voice.
you TOTALLY ROCK in your red flats!! and the key to heels is to find ones that DONT cause you excruciating pain.....
