It's Over

The funeral going has come to an end. After a viewing Tuesday, the funeral Wednesday, a drive to Mississippi, and a graveside service there on Thursday, we buried Husband's mother. It has been physically and emotionally draining to see Husband and Sister-in-law have to go through this (and if I'm this tired, I can't even imagine how they feel).

The good news is that I was reunited with the family in Mississippi - a virtual slop bucket full of eccentricities to make fun of! For instance, several pictures were taken of Patsy in the casket. Who wants a picture like that? Sort of morbid, don't you think?

They took pictures of her IN the casket? Wow, and I thought my southern family had eccentricities...

Umm...yeah, that's right. Snapping pictures of her IN THE CASKET. You should have seen sister-in-law's face when she saw the flash. Can you just imagine coming across that picture in the family scrapbook?

And the funniest thing about it was that two days beforehand, I had joked about it and sister-in-law said, "You know, my people do that! You can bet someone in Mississippi will take one of her in her casket."

Southern families do that - my family is guilty as well. We also like to go to grave sites and take pictures of possible family member headstones (or just ones that are really old and cool looking.)
Somewhere, I know my mom has entire albums of grave stones and funerals. I don't know why...

I guess you have those people that take videotape the goriness of labor and then you have people who take pictures of funerals.

On another note, is Nick doing okay?

Yes, just like you will NEVER see a video of me giving birth (since I'm sure it will include R rated swear words), you will never see me taking a picture of a dead person. Grave stones are completely different - take all the pictures you want!

I think Nick is ok. He's tired. Even if he was doing bad, I'm not sure that I could tell. He's pretty even keel.
