The Old Switch-A-Roo

It would be an understatement to say that we see an overwhelming number of senior citizens here at the doctor's office. While I understand that the doctor would want to see "free" seniors, I have no idea why one earth he makes seniors who are in a nursing home come here to see a doctor (such places generally have a doctor on staff).

We have one patient who is a semi-invalid that comes here about once a month. The ambulance drops her off and then her horrible family joins her (and leaves her) whenever they see fit. The entire time they're here, they're complaining because they have to actually push their mother's wheelchair into the examining room.

This past week, the nursing home sent her over here without her usual diaper (she is incontinent). As a result, by the end of the morning, she was sitting in her wheelchair with a giant yellow puddle underneath her. Her daughter refused to help with the cleanup saying it was "not her job to do work like that" and that "we should have realized that she was about to go".

The nurse wheeled her back into her room and then came busting out and said, "You'll never guess what's written on the back of her chair!"

Turns out that neatly stenciled right there for everyone to see was "Patsy Peters". Patsy just happens to be my mother-in-law who is in the same nursing home as this lady.

Looks like they pulled the old wheelchair switch-a-roo - what are the odds that a patient would come to the office where the daughter-in-law of the actual wheelchair owner works??

While I laughed at the whole situation (I think you might have to work at a doctor's office to think it's hilarious), I'm just hoping that they cleaned the chair before they gave it back to Patsy.

That's pretty funny. But it's very sad that the woman's own daughter refuses to assist in caring for her mother. That ingracious git!

Hey... I hear you got rock band! We were inspired by your example and got a wii! Now that you're in the land of the living, when do you want to play?

Yes, I am now a practiced ROCKER. Of course, I've never played the drums, just the guitar, but I am happy to say that I have gotten "most gutsy" performance several different times.

And, anytime you are ready to play the Wii, I am prepared. I am nearly a pro at boxing...but I keep getting beat up.
