Editing

I've spent about the last month trying to put together and edit a book from my Japan blog. I've read and re-read my own writing so much that it makes me want to throw up. By the time I was half-way through, I started thinking, "NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT TO PUBLISH THIS! IT'S RUBBISH!"

Anyway, I think that I've got it to where I can start sending it to publishers, although I don't really know what signifies that point. I've been looking up publishers on the Internet, trying to figure out which ones would be the most likely to publish something like what I write. I've also been researching the market to see what kind of books about Japan are already out there. Lucky for me that whenever people write about Japan, they use this flowery, sentimental language. It sounds like a bunch of crap to me. Obviously they don't understand the Japanese culture the way I do because it is neither flowery NOR sentimental. If I could use one word to describe Japanese culture it would be ummm....I guess there isn't just one word. I could use several: HILARIOUS, baffling, outrageous...and all of these are twice as true if they are drunk.

The real point of me getting this book published is not to share the Japanese culture, however. The real point, in fact, if for me to get RICH and FAMOUS without having to do any real work.

I wish I were funny enough and/or clever enough to get rich and famous without working. Sigh.
