Again, I have been feeling down, down down. However, this past weekend, thanks to fabulous husband, I am feeling bright eyed and perky again (despite the fact that the stupid time changed and I think that I'm going to die of sleep deprivation).
There were many things that happened this weekend to make it great. The number one thing is that husband thoughtfully made an appointment to have my car detailed - that's right, the full bumper to bumper. They cleaned and waxed the little Geo until it shined (or is it shone??). Despite the fact that it has 157,000 miles on it and it dinged up in many different places, we pulled in to pick it up and I was so proud that I nearly popped the buttons on my overalls. It looks so pretty (we'll see how it looks after the rainstorm today)! And on top of it being pretty on the outside, they also steam cleaned my seats and floors. So, after who knows how many months of the sour milk smell (which, disgustingly enough, I had sort of gotten used to), my car smells fresh and clean...except for when I turn on the air conditioning and the dead mouse smell bursts forth with great fury. I'm totally going to get that taken care of soon. Seriously.
The second thing was that husband and I cooked a GREAT meal together. I'm happy to admit that husband is a better, more experienced, more daring cook than I am. While I am stuck on cooking meals that take 30 minutes or less, husband likes to take his time. And the product of that is delicious food (that also takes forever to cook). It doesn't hurt anything that the spices he uses are perfect. Anyway, we had a yummy BBQ shrimp dinner along with friends, Allison and Taylor while watching a movie that I can't remember the name of.
The third thing (and stop reading if you are easily grossed out) was the big hair removal. Husband is hairy...there is no nice way of saying that. I've been after him for months to let me do some hair removal on the back and chest. I think he finally got tired of me whining, because he was agreeable on Saturday morning when I showed him the bottle of Nair I had purchased. He let me do several different applications and then watched in disgust as I gleefully wiped the hair that I had so artfully burned off (chemically). It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen (and you have to understand that I am one of those "pickers". I pick anything and everything, a fabulous trait I inherited from my mother). In the end, he got tired of me sitting there, watching his back as if an alien was going to pop out and put a stop to it halfway through (leaving half of his back hairy and the other half hair-less). After some time of obsessively rubbing his smooth back, I came to realize that I kind of miss the hair. It's a good thing, too, because I don't think that he's going to let me finish.
